AOL has ALWAYS been seen as "badware" by anyone who uses a toothpick. AOL finds itself in every type of malicious software category there is. It is malware, spyware, adware, and spamware. AOL fits every one awfully well.

The new title of "Badware" only shows how horrible the program and service is. Hopefully, AOL stock tanks and the business goes bankrupt. It DESERVES to go out of business. It is a marketing ploy in the purest sense.

AOL is:

Malware.

AOL has elements which allow it to hijack the MSN Explorer web browser (this is one reason I use Mozilla FireFox). Also, AOL software has a habit of installing countless time-consuming updates. These are nothing more than a few actual programming patches. But, they are included with more desktop internet shortcuts for marketing tie-ins.

I have experienced, in a few of my previous systems, conflicts with Windows. More often than not, these are caused by AOL programs self-installing bundled software (yet more marketing tie-ins).

Spyware: Many have already heard plenty about this one, so no need to explain it.

Spamware: Customers routinely receive emails for new services. Each new "service" is the same thing with a different name.

Adware: AOL serves a smorgasbord of advertisements. Each appearing when a new window is opened. These windows abound with cheap gimmicks, which only lead users to being asked to purchase something.

Most information or "news" stories have some kind of marketing/sales tie-in. This is like every service AOL offers. Customers (at one time I was, when 14.4 dialup was all the rage) are constantly prodded and poked with sales pitches. Each new "service is really another sales pitch/marketing scheme with a new wrapper on it.

Badware: If you read everything above, you get the point. If you still dont't understand, you will be lucky to master a shoe-tying.

Simply, AOL doesn't get it. People are leaving because they are just waayyy too obsessed with advertising. AOL has turned itself into society's posterchild of advertising run amok.

I liken this world\universe to a video game.....You assume a character and experience the laws within that realm. You may die, at which time you may reincarnate to play again. However, once you beat a level, there is always another level, and another until it is complete. There are hidden levels.

If you do not conquer with your character you might try a different one. If you cannot win with that one, you will eventually give up and accept your failure. You are left behind those who gained proficency. You WILL HAVE BURIED YOUR TALENTS IN THE GROUND. Usually, the game is updated and the one with your character might be obsolete.

You can keep playing that character. However, you will have been left behind because THERE IS A NEW UNIVERSE for activity...(Game 2.0)...you and your character are stuck at one. You can play the Windows 3.1, however YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FULLY INTERACT WITH THE NEW UNIVERSE. YOU EXIST AS A GHOST OR A SHELL in Windows Vista.

The electricity and it's motion represent the SERPENT of FIRE. It is the final peice of manifesting the desire, or ATTRACTION, ELECTRO_MAGNETIC, etc. In other words, WE CHOOSE TO BE HERE. We desire this and forget about where we came to get the maximum experience.

WE GET LOST IN THE GAME BECAUSE WE FORGOT ABOUT WHERE WE ORIGINATE. Its why we need the cheat codes. The cheats do not appear in the instructions which came with the game. You must find that on your own.
